The Apollo was my local when The Establishment was based in Eastworks and lunch there was a real treat. The BLT and the Tuna Melt are excellent and the black bean soup is fragrant as well as hearty. After 5 years I now concur – pickle is good. I still return from time to time, but no longer in the building I cannot be called a regular. For dinner the Apollo redifines itself and it is, if not formal, a more serious affair. The Menu (see link below) is solid, fun, and if I could eat here fortnightly (should babysitters condescend to allow it) I would never be bored. My favourites are are the Braised Wild Mushrooms with Parmesan Polenta, Spinach Salad w/ roasted pepper, kalamata olives, pine nuts, Cornmeal Crusted Catfish w/ avocado tartar sauce, sauteed peppers and onions, sweet potato fries, Grilled Free-range Chicken w/ Madeira glaze, garlicky spinach mushroom risotto. Kim is an excellent hostess and the bar and wine cellar are pretty nicely stocked.

Updated April 30th 2015. The Apollo closed at the end of 2014, but much of the goodness has moved over to Galaxy. We go maybe every other Tuesday (burger night).
