Music/Notes/Listening Tips

How does this work?

If you see one of these play buttonstop button next to a song title, it means you can listen to that song.
Hit the play button to play and the stop button to stop the music.

If you hit the play button of another song, the one playing will automatically stop and the new selection will start.

There is a one second countdown (9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1) animation when you hit play button and then the song should begin playing. The song playing is indicated by the solid play button solid play button.

Note - quite a few of my songs fade in, so at low volume they may seem to be not playing when in fact they are.

You need the Flash plug-in -

For all of the above to work you need the Adobe Flash plug in. Click here to download it.

You need the Internet Explorer 7 or later -

If you're using Windows, we recoomend Firefox, but if you're an IE user and don't want to change you'll need version 7 or later. Version 6 will not display this site intelligently. You can download IE 7 here.

You need a fairly fast internet connection -

The buttons activate a flash swf. file which streams mp3 audio. The countdown animation allows this process to get started but it does not in any way guarantee that it will work in all instances. It is unlikely to work if you have a dial up connection.

Audio Quality -

It was not my intention to make this area some kind of internet jukebox. It is a resource to identify and audition my work. The mp3 files which are streamed here are medium quality, they are mono, and they are all exactly 2/3 of the length of the CD versions. This keeps the file size down (there are over 300 mp3s on the site), and improves streaming performance on slower systems. For high fidelity I encourage the purchase of CDs.

Tabbed Browsing -

If you play a song on this site and then exit that page for another, the audio will stop. If you wish to listen while browsing, I recommend tabbed browsing. So long as the Music page is in an open tab, you can continue to listen while you view the pages you open in other tabs.
