ON TOUR - The Small Ensemble hits the road - MA warm-up show added

Four dates only. Make that five...

The Small Ensemble is my new baby blue grass band. No, we're not really blue grass at all, but we do use similar instrumentation. And we're all acoustic. No drums or bass. This will not be a greatest hits set, we will be leaning heavily on recent and new material. Which isn't to say we don't play any old songs - we've already figured out 3 songs from Rattlesnakes - but we will not be attempting to reproduce the youthful attitude of the older material. I'm really excited with my first new band in a very long time. If all goes to plan, they will feature prominently on the next album, and we will tour in this format on the back of the release.

LC - Steel string guitar and banjo.

Matt Cullen - Steel string guitar and banjo.

Mark Schwaber - Nylon and steel string guitar, mandolin.

Title: Hit the road.

Lloyd,

Do bear in mind that a slight drawback about, "Hitting the Road" is that it sometimes leads on to the line, "And don't you come back. No more. No more." Having said that, it probably only applies to anyone called, Jack.

much as I have loved seeing the solo performances over recent years, I would look forward very much to seeing a new show.

I hope you can find a road to Europe, to England, and maybe to Bath in particular.....

Thrilling..
I could just imagine what the title song of Rattlesnakes, would sound like... or Down at mission street...
Something in the "vicinity" of the excellent live version of "black and White" by mature dB´s perhaps...
Well, seems like the rest of the world, will just have to wait.. in vain???

The Small Ensemble for THE BIG SUCCESS.....
En tout cas j'espère à une prochaine tournée européenne avec en poche ce futur album qui m'a l'air des plus prometteurs.... Pour l'instant je l'intitule 'l'eau à la bouche ' en référence à Mr Serge Gainsbourg....
Comme dit ma parisienne "girl" of Chicago Mélanie Hancox: Lucky n America...
Bests for your next step in your music life ,Mr Cole .
Ringo

Ps pour Mélanie Hancox: j'espère te revoir sur le prochain European LC tour....

Title: Waiting In Vain?

Well, that depends on many factors, the first being - can we actually put on a good show? That will hopefully be answered in the positive in January. Then we move on, promoters worldwide are interested, that's for sure.

Title: Reverse Regions

Seems like your seasons of regional travel are reversed. You hit the North during the winter and the South during the summer. Need to head South to have a bit o warmer weather; break the chill.

Pondered heading to Cleveland, but I left most of my currency in the UK. Hope to see the ensemble soon!

Hi Lloyd

I missed your last visit to the UK, as we were watching Dylan that night. York, Leeds, Newcastle would be great. What about the arts centres in Northallerton or Stockton-on-Tees. I'll put posters up everywhere!

Title: what cd's do you plan to have at the shows?

What titles do plan on having with you,to sell, on the current run of shows? I was also wondering if you were aware of a live dvd that has come out ,"Live at the Marquee", which looks to be a show from the Rattlesnakes era? Any thoughts on it? We'll see you in Ferndale, not wood, unless you can get Martin Mull and Fred Willard to open the show. Thanks,Mike

Title: world / marquee

i think the marquee show has been around in various forms for 10+ years. got one on ebay vhs with other promo 45 vdos. quality is decent, kinda.

Id much rather the full WORLD [avenue B, 2nd st] NYC 'Easy Pieces' show was released - it was shot adequately by MTV, I have like 5 songs from 80s broadcast, but surely a full "Easy/ Snakes" show from that era is of much appeal. LC covered "Mystery Train" I remember that .....

Lloyd and the Small Ensemble treated us to a great show last evening! Even though LC was clearly under the weather he performed great as always and even signed a few CD's for us after the show!

Make sure you purchase the "White Label" CD, it was in my computer all day today; great stuff!

Thanks Lloyd for another great evening and thanks for the Bridgestone advice!

Lloyd, why do you never play Milwaukee? Just north of Chicago. Book Shankhall. People travel from Chicago to Shank shows so you will have an even bigger audience. -- Danno

That was a great show tonight at the Old Town, I was so thrilled to finally see you after being a fan for so long, and wow you guys were impressive. Your voice sounds amazing live.
I had to laugh when you talked about the mixed levels of fandom in the audience, as the gentlemen next to me was nodding off right in the center of the theater! In his defense, I think he'd just had too much beer. He wasn't with me, I swear--the friend I brought is just as much a fan as I am!

Thanks for a really wonderful show, and I hope you come back soon when it's warmer!!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY a day early!

Gents, tonight was great. Thanks so much for a brilliant night and I hope Lloyd's attestation was right and this won't be the last Chicago visit. Loved the ensemble (grabbed a CD but was hungry, so though would have loved to wait about for a natter my stomach had other plans..), will replay especially in moments of lunacy so remind myself to relax.

Fabulous night, continued success and will add to the new album list and see if I can find a willing rich bleeder with deeper pocketa than I to rope in..!

Best,
Carolyn

Great show last night. Thanks! Love the acoustic sound and am glad to still be listening/seeing you lo these 25 years later.

Thanks also for having the CD from last weekend available. What a treat to walk out of a show and basically have a copy of it to take home with you! Great idea.

Happy Birthday. Take care. Stay warm. See you next time 'round.
