June 19th, 5.30 PM (approx) The Band Shell, Easthampton, MA USA

Show is free. Lots of fine acts performing. We'll play 45 minutes at the most, hopefully debuting a few newly learned tunes.

Title: Ask Lloyd

Lloyd. I was wondering with an outdoors festival style show like this, how much gear of your own do you set up?

Were you using your own amps for example?

Title: No amps

The small ensemble don't use any amps. We brought our own DIs, which helps a lot. We couldn't use our instrument mics because of the wind (this is not unusual, and another reason music should not be played outdoors). There was an SM58 there for vocals so I used it to save time. It was an interesting experience, to see if we could play not really hearing ourselves very well, and without being able to fine tune the stage sound. It was quite awful on stage, to be honest, and we all made a few more mistakes than usual (I had to fine myself $10 on WILC Music) but I believe we got through it without serious disaster, which is encouraging. We also got to try out the 5 new tunes. Much as I dislike festival shows, they are a way to get our music to folk who might otherwise never hear us, so I'm in favour of us playing some, if we get invited.

Yes an acoustic coming through an Vox AC 30 amp wouldn't be so good I don't imagine.
The folk that were there are giving good feedback on the show, so mission accomplished.

Thanks.
