I designed those glasses. They were rimless - I drew a picture of what I wanted and the opticians cut the lenses as per. I think I was going for a Prince vibe. I didn't wear contact lenses until the mid nineties.

... we weren't allowed to play with our touring band. Only really 'major' acts got to do that in those days. We had to play with the house band who are obviously great musicians but would they get the point of my stuff? Well, you decide. The most amusing aspect of the show was the mixing - at soundcheck it sounded pretty good, but for the actual broadcast the keyboards mysteriously got far too loud! Other trivia - didn't get more than a handshake from DL (not that I expected more - 4 years later Conan chatted for quite a while) and yes, the studio is freezing cold.
