Q – Lloyd, When I find myself wanting to write lyrics about relationships (past/present – no matter) I find my self constrained by the emotive subjects and how my wife will react if/when she hears them.
Does this happen to you? Hope do you cope with this – writing stuff that means something – but does not hurt significant others. Tricky n’est-ce pas? or not? do tell…
A – I think you need only listen to Music IAFL to see that pretty much nothing was off limits on that record. I do think I’ll redefine the limits from project to project. One never wants to hurt loved ones with songs but sometimes songs need to be written. Or so it seems. Also the need to be creative (to produce) cannot be negated in the equation. Maybe that was all I had in 2001-2? Thankfully I can’t recall.
