I’ve been using these strings since a guitar roadie got me a deal with them in the nineties. I use Slinky Electric (11,14,20w,30,40,50) and Slinky Acoustic (12 – 54). They sound good to me, I don’t use anything different in the studio. Sometimes I’ll string a guitar with heavy strings for a really bold sound, sometimes light strings if a tuning needs them. At home or in the studio I change strings only when the guitar starts to sound bad. On tour, every 2 or 3 shows depending upon how sweaty the last show was. This year at Joe’s Pub was the sweatiest ever in 20 years, the strings were dead after show number one on the second night and there was no time to change them between sets. That was a first.
