Q – Who are your favourite professional or celebrity golfers? Have you ever met or played golf with any of them?
A – I’ve been conspicuous in my absence from the celeb golfing scene. I’m sure I could thrash Bruce and Tarby, though. I did play in a Beson and Hedges tournament a while back with Mark James and Gary Lineker, talk about a laconic get together… Both were charming. Off the top of my head, a few of my favourite pro golfers are – James Braid, Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson, Tom Weiskopf, Nicklaus, Seve, JM Olazabal, Tom Watson, Lorena Ochoa is fantastic and I really like Laura Davies. Tiger Woods is not bad, either. Amareurs I have enjoyed reading about include Francis Ouimet, Bobby Jones, Joyce Wethered. I don’t like him but I liked Faldo’s swing.
