Q – Hi Lloyd I saw an article in Mojo about all the people that Tony Visconti worked with Bowie & T-Rex. I know that you are a big T-Rex fan & I wondered if you ever wanted him to produce your work ? I know Morrissey has worked with him & Russel Crowe’s wife.
A – I love Tony’s work in the 1970’s. His string and brass arrangements are particularly outstanding. I just read his autobiography last year which was very illuminating. I don’t quite know why I never tried to work with him, but I never did. I’ve bumped into him a couple of times at T.Rex events and he seems very nice. I read some Morrissey quote when that album was coming out citing The Man Who Sold The World as DB and TV’s masterpiece, which is certainly an interesting angle… and couldn’t be more wrong;)
