Q – Well, it´s hard to explain, but I´ve been thinking about this strange and VERY far-fetched connection (i´m aware of that), since I understood that very much amiable Dave Derby also ia a fan of the wonderful director Yasujiro Ozu.. (Hawaians do like Japanese stuff, don´t they?)
So.. I thought that perhaps You and Mr. Derby have discussed two of the late films of Ozu, “Late Autumn” and “Early Spring”, You consequently have found the “rhythm” of those names, yet changed it to “Late Night, Early Town” instead..
A – Isn’t art fun? Derby is far better versed in all things Japanese and cinematic than I. This is the fist I’ve heard of Yasujiro Ozu. But thanks, maybe we’ll put one on our DVD rental wish list.
