Q – Question about Like Lovers Do, one of my favorite songs of all time. Were the lyrics Raymond Carver inspired?

I am particularly thinking of:

“living on juice
eating out of tuna cans
mobile home
with my dairy queen”

Also is dairy queen meant to be the narrator’s girlfriend or the American ice cream/burger joint.

A – I am not going to make a habit of this – talking about lyrics, that is.
Not to my knowledge, I read a lot of Carver in the late 80’s early 90’s, and as many of you know ‘DGWOM, Babe’ is a direct quote from RC. Dairy Queen – I was hoping it could be ambiguous, next nodody has heard of the Dairy Queen rest stops outside of the US and I wouldn’t want to write a song that only some folk could enjoy…
