Q – I happened to read an inteview with Stephen Street from the 90’s , and found this quote:

“I’ve just finished producing and mixing the lion’s share of a Lloyd Cole album and I had a lot of fun doing that. He is quite meticulous to work with, but I love his vocal style and his lyrics, which are incredibly strong — he’s just one of those songwriters you can listen to again and again.”

Meticulous – any comments on that?

A – That is probably Stephen’s politespeak for ‘demanding’ or ‘too hands on’. He is a lovely man. But really, who spends months or years making a record and isn’t meticulous about the mix?
