If Cole were any more selfdeprecating, hed punch himself in the face, so its a relief to hear him throw his weight about in the company of the impeccable, country-minded band assembled here.
Yes, few can turn a line quite as cutely as Cole (I look like a million bucks, sure I aint worth quite that much), and the swinging, bluesy Rhinestones charms as effortlessly as anything on this album. But Double Happiness is a glimpse of a more expansive and frankly weirder artist. More of this older, bolder Cole, please.
