TAKING a trip down memory lane was pop star Lloyd Cole who returned to visit his old school.
A pupil at New Mills secondary school in the mid 1970s Lloyd, who made his name with his band the Commotions, chatted to pupils and staff.
Headteacher Jesse Elms said: He was extremely generous with his time.
Among those Lloyd spent time reminiscing with was Christine Barker who taught him English and still teaches at the school.
He was also presented with a photograph of his year group back in 1976 and was able to find himself on it.
During his visit he spent time with students in the schools music department.
We had some kids playing him different renditions of his songs and their own compositions.
He was quite touched by that, said Mr Elms, We are blessed at the moment with an extraordinarily talented bunch of kids.
Lloyd was then interviewed by two students and spent time talking about the differences in education then and now, and offered advice for those thinking of following him into a career in the music industry.
Lloyd, who now lives in Massachusetts, is in the UK on tour.
