Q – I cannot get this song out of my head because it is such a masterpiece. Have you considered reworking the beautiful and haunting ‘Backwoods’ instrumental into a longer version of the original including vocals?
A – Actually I tried. It’s called ‘Tie Me Down’ and the negatives demoed it, but I didn’t think it stood up very well next to the rest of the competing material. Backwoods is one of my favourite pieces also, we opened some of my 2006 tour (with Neil playing guitar) with a version of it segued into Traffic.
