Q – Lloyd, forgive my rudeness, but has music made you rich ?
If you didnt make another record, could you live off the old ones ? Have you ever estimated how many records you sold ?
A – Good question. I was richer than I expected to be for quite a while, but I come from a lower middle class family, so it didn’t take much to impress me.
I got used to having money to spare for a couple of years. Then I made Bad Vibes (that is actually a gross oversimplification, but the timing holds true). Since then I’ve had to be pretty careful. I do some work every year that I’d rather not do. I do make some money every year from radio and TV play of my songs, and some from royalties. I still play and make records for a living and I’m happy doing it.
