Dan Dryden, my friend and sometime sound engineer, recommended this place when he knew I’d be staying in The Rocks area. I just had a simple lunch and I cannot say enough about it. There is a restaurant and a canteen above it. I ate upstairs, all the other patrons were eating outside. I don’t like to do that. The dining room has one long communal table, the impression is one of elegant understatement, old woods and metals with earth colours. I could sit there all day. I had simple rice noodles with minced chicken and chili, bean sprouts and something like bok choi. It was fresh spicy and fragrant and I might well be back tomorrow. The Jasmine tea is worthy of seperate note as it is the first good cup of tea I’ve had since my arrival in the southern hemisphere.
