Q – Well, I don´t think amiable and sincere Edwyn Collins will make a big deal about it, but isn´t the bass theme of Speedboat and What Presence? really similar…?
I guess that Lawrence Donegan put this theme in to your song inadvertently, but great artists may borrow from eachother, don´t they?
A – Edwyn was a little touchy that year too. In this case rightly so. I didn’t notice it at the time but it is very similar, and What Presence was first, so a subliminal theft. Or a ‘tribute’ as Eddy would say when he did it.
