Q – It’s good news that Blair will be playing on the new album. I would be even happier if you wrote some new songs together. I miss his tunes! What is the reason that you two stopped co-writing after Don’t Get Weird? To me, the Cole/Cowan songs on that album are absolutely fantastic.
A – We just ran our course over those two records, I suppose. I love those Blair tunes, too but Bad Vibes was all about breaking new ground (not necessarily good ground) and then I got into a folk/simple tune writing thing on Love Story and by then Blair was working with Paul Quinn, etc. Then he got a job and I left NYC. Never really planned to phase out the team, just moved one.
